Neither rain, nor sleet, nor dark of night, nor snow…

We are preparing for what may not happen with things that have already happened!

In spite of another “historic level” of snow predicted this weekend, worship will still happen at McLean Bible Church.  The Creative Arts Team is rehearsing for the weekend service in the main auditorium, the Edge team rehearsing in the Smith Center and the morning and Frontline services are being edited for the internet broadcasts that will happen at each of our regular Tysons service times. I am amazed to see how quickly we can mobilize everyone with such speed and focus.

Earlier today we recorded Lon and Todd’s weather explanation, greeting and announcements and then they chose videoed sermons that will air.  Then audio, video and Internet staff was moving as fast as technology will allow–confirming, double-checking, questioning, triple checking, then reordering the bytes and pieces.  All of those things are being assembled, recorded and readied by 10 pm… or 11 pm… or whatever time it is tonight when we finish.  There is discussion that sleeping bags may need to be brought in (and which couches may be the best to sleep on) just in case.

I am looking at a stage full of singers and musicians that are worshipping—these performers that may not perform, this lighting that you may never see, and audio that may not be heard in the auditoriums unless we do the live services. If the weather breaks, we will be ready to do services as usual.  If it prohibits us from getting to the various campuses and we shut down the buildings–you will be able to see the Internet broadcast because MBC’s staff is fully devoted to provided you with excellence because its what we believe. We pursue core value number 8 - Everything we do must be done with excellence. (Colossians 3:23-24)

We had a “historic level” of excellence today (and tonight!) So honor the people that serve the Lord to bring you excellent opportunities to worship. Either here or online join us for worship Sunday.  Even better–tell someone to tune in!
