They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. (Acts 2:42 NASB)
Have you ever observed a single ant aimlessly wandering around, confused and basically inept? It is amazing how busy but how unproductive he really is. Compare that with the effectiveness of an ant colony in which super ant highways are created, raids are staged and intricate dwellings formed. Within a colony, there is a single mission and each ant contributes to the colony’s success, all because of a theory called “swarm intelligence.”
The same holds true for us as believers in Christ. We are far more effective as disciples and disciple makers when we are connected to the church. We are able to accomplish so much more as the Body working together through the power of the Holy Spirit for His Kingdom. As His, we are called of one accord, devoted with an intimate fellowship of love for each other and God.
Are you that lone ant, or the ant focused on the global mission of the colony forsaking personal mission for the good of the colony?
Pray today…
That MBC would demonstrate the characteristics of the New Testament church in Acts.
